Event Description

Have you ever thought of physicians as victims of abuse? Seems unlikely, doesn’t it? But over the past seventy plus years, the medical profession has slid into a state of disrepair and low standards, and it is the direct result of physician abuse.

What began as an insidious idea metastasized into a massive bureaucratic state seeking complete control of our lives, all because of the calculated and criminal severance of a very simple bond called the doctor patient contract. Throughout the time period after World War II all the way to today, a treacherous, yet captivating and seductive campaign has occurred from the federal government and the deep administrative state all the way down to your front door and mine, called a tyrannical big government takeover of our once thriving economy. Ronald Reagan made a great statement in the middle of this period of change when he said…”The nine most terrifying words ever stated in the English language are, ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help’”! We’ve been helped alright, right into the poorhouse.

After nearly two decades of practicing general surgery in Sacramento, Dr. Patrick Wagner made the decision to quit medicine, not because he was tired of the work, or even because he wanted to spend his hard-earned money on retirement vacations. In truth, he stopped working as a physician because his career as he knew it had turned into a series of unfavorable decisions.

These decisions were not the unfavorable ones he had knowingly signed up for when he originally became a doctor--how to break the bad news to somebody who had cancer, or how to know when to stop resuscitating after a heart refused to resume its beating. These were scenarios he hated but accepted as part of his job. He never would have guessed ETHICS would be the reason he’d eventually stop practicing medicine.
